The Result

The guitar shown is one of several used to illustrate the  steps in building a steel-string acoustic guitar. This instrument has a Sitka spruce top and back and sides of quartersawn oak harvested from a log in a local quarry. (The process of going from log to tonewood is described in another article.) The binding is curly maple and the headstock veneer is curly oak. The rosette design is inspired by Native American pottery patterns.

A gallery of other instruments I’ve made can be found here.
